Description: The Arbitrator’s Pledge was launched by the European Court of Arbitration to give parties access to more information about the arbitrator they may select.
In-house counsel in particular have expressed that the sources of information (CVs, profiles, recommendations from colleagues) available are insufficient to allow them to make an informed choice.
While most would agree that more information would be useful (even if not perhaps necessary), it is not always easy to find a way to appropriately collect information that would allow a party to understand a potential arbitrator’s approach to the conduct of the proceedings.
This Arbitrator’s Pledge was developed to address these issues. It consists of the pledge form below and of a questionnaire for the Arbitrator to fill out.
The form below also provides an example of an arbitrator’s reply to the questionnaire.
