Description: In 2017, the enforcement rate of foreign arbitral awards in Russia fell to 77% from a historical average over the previous four years of 92%, and the public policy defense made a comeback, responsible for thwarting enforcement in 86% of the cases where enforcement was denied. This report examines those cases, other lower-court cases of denied enforcement, and all the relevant cases heard by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation (“SCRF”) in 2017.

He is a member of the National Advisory Council of the Harriman Institute at Columbia University in New York and of the Supervisory Board of Strabag SE, an Austrian construction company.
